A steel rod with a hardened cutting wheel at one end and a sliding fence that locks with a thumbscrew. It scribes a line parallel to an edge for hinge mortises, joinery and tenon shoulders. The wheel severs the wood fibres cleanly where a pin gauge would tear them.
Buying tip
Scores a clean line instead of tearing fibres like a pin gauge. Mostly bench work.
